Year 9 Under 14 Inter District Team Competition

A very successful competition with some exceptional performances from athletes in an age category for which there is very little competition. The high standard of performances augurs well for the future as does the involvement of so many schools. There were 18 individual events with the winners coming from a total of 12 different schools, whilst four schools had 2 winners with only one having 3 winners.

Competition from the 3 Districts which took part was very close. District C, which comprises schools from Co. Londonderry and north of Co. Antrim from Ballyclare H.S. northward, finished as winners with 119 points. District B which comprises schools from all of South Antrim finished in second place with 100 points, just one point ahead of District A, the Co. Down schools, which had 99 points. The ‘B’ teams of District A and C shared 4th place.

We were delighted to have the medals presented by Mr. Robert Stevenson, (Steve) recently honoured by being awarded the MBE for services to Athletics and Boys Scouts in the Queen’s birthday honours.
